Fortnite's Latest Update: Outlaw Keycards, Shohei Ohtani Crossover & More!
Fortnite’s newest update is packed with exciting features, including Outlaw Keycards, a special collaboration with baseball star Shohei Ohtani, and the powerful Plasma Burst Laser weapon. Read on to discover all the latest additions and improvements in the game.
A major highlight of the update is the introduction of Outlaw Keycards, granting access to exclusive Black Market rooms filled with high-tier loot, extra chests, and rare weapons. Players must complete specific Outlaw Keycard missions to unlock and upgrade these keycards.
Each time players complete five missions, their keycard advances to a higher tier, unlocking even greater rewards. Initially, the Fortnite community must finish the “Rob Vaults and Safes” mission to activate the first set of Outlaw Keycards. The progress of these missions can be tracked under “The Outlaw Keycard” banner in the Battle Royale missions tab.
Baseball superstar Shohei Ohtani is making his way into Fortnite, bringing an exclusive crossover event starting on March 17, at 8 p.m. EDT. This update introduces Ohtani-themed cosmetics, events, and quests, as well as a solo battle royale tournament.
Players can get their hands on two Ohtani-themed bundles featuring his Los Angeles Dodgers uniform and a samurai warrior outfit. The samurai-themed skin even ignites in flames as players achieve more eliminations. Gamers can win early access by competing in the Shohei Ohtani Cup on March 15, where points are earned based on placement and eliminations.
Additionally, Ohtani-themed quests will be available starting March 18 and will remain in the game until the end of Chapter 6, Season 2.
Another exciting addition is the Plasma Burst Laser, a durability-based weapon that delivers explosive damage. Unlike traditional guns, this weapon doesn’t use ammo but instead wears down over time.
This high-powered weapon is great for eliminating enemies and speeding up heist processes, such as opening vaults. Additionally, in Joss’ story quests, players must use the Plasma Burst Laser to damage stone structures and collect minerals.
Epic Games has also resolved a controversial storm damage immunity glitch, which allowed players to unfairly survive and win matches. This bug, discovered on March 4, caused frustration among the Fortnite community. The developers quickly disabled the mission causing the exploit, reinforcing their commitment to maintaining fair gameplay.
With these updates, Fortnite continues to innovate, offering new gameplay mechanics, fresh content, and bug fixes to enhance the player experience. From the exciting Outlaw Keycards and Shohei Ohtani crossover to the powerful Plasma Burst Laser, this update has something for everyone.
