Riot Unveils Season 2 Plans with Spirit Blossom and Major Changes
Riot Games has officially revealed what's coming in League of Legends Season 2, and it’s packed with exciting changes. From a return to Ionia’s beloved Spirit Blossom event, to a brand-new game mode called Brawl, the upcoming season is shaping up to be one of the most refreshing yet.
If you haven't seen the Season 2 cinematics, it's worth watching them before diving into the details. They reveal key storylines and set the tone for the next chapter in Runeterra.
Season 2 kicks off with the return of Spirit Blossom, one of the most loved themes in League history. Set in Ionia during the rare bloom of Spirit Blossom flowers, this time it's not just about skins—it’s a canon event in the League of Legends universe.
New Spirit Blossom skins are coming for champions like Ashe, Irelia, Bard, Varus, Zyra, Ivern, and even a Prestige Spirit Blossom Lux. These skins dive deep into Ionian folklore and are more detailed than ever.
Riot is refining Summoner’s Rift gameplay with big updates based on player feedback. The new focus is on smoother pacing and reducing objective overload:
To combat trolling, Riot is locking in certain mechanics in Champion Select:
A major focus this season is punishing toxic behavior. Riot is launching better systems to catch soft-inting, trolling, and griefing. These updates will automatically detect bad behavior like refusing to help while avoiding AFK detection.
Players will also get clearer feedback on reports—now including the offender’s name if action was taken.
Introducing Brawl—a new 5v5 mode set in Bandle City. You pick your champion and battle without towers or standard objectives. Just push minions into the enemy base and defend your own.
It’s designed for fast-paced, fun games and is perfect for casual players or newcomers. Brawl launches in Patch 25.10.
After “The Demon’s Hand,” Riot is planning a fresh metagame for Act 2. As always, they aim to bring something new and experimental to keep players engaged with unique objectives and challenges.
Beyond Spirit Blossom, Riot is launching “Variety Skins”—one-off skins that don’t belong to a larger thematic line. The first is Pool Party Twitch, available in the Act 1 Paid Pass.
These unique skins give Riot more creative freedom and offer more champion-focused designs. They’ll also release Exalted Morgana, and Prestige Zed and Aphelios skins this season.
A new champion, Yunara, will debut in Act 2. While Riot hasn’t revealed much yet, she has ties to the Spirit Blossom lore. More details are expected soon.
In May, another legendary pro player will be honored in the Hall of Legends, celebrating their influence on the game and community.
League of Legends Season 2 is shaping up to be a mix of nostalgia and innovation. From Spirit Blossom’s beautiful return to better matchmaking, gameplay balancing, and exciting new modes, there’s something for every type of player.
Whether you're chasing new skins, diving into Brawl, or excited to explore Ionia again, Season 2 is set to be one of the best updates League has seen in years.
