Sony officially hiked Canadian PlayStation Plus subscription prices in its first price hike since September 2023. The three plans, which are Essential, Extra, and Premium, have all gone up in price, with subscribers wondering why they are doing so since they are not receiving anything extra in return.
In emails to customers, the organization asserted that price increases are necessary to help them "continue to deliver high-quality games and benefits" to the service.
The PS Plus Extra subscription for a period of 12 months is currently CAD 189.99, which is higher than the previous CAD 154.99.
Here are the updated prices for all levels in Canada:
Unfortunately, nothing extra is being added to the service to justify raising prices. Subscribers continue to have access to the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog, along with free downloads every month, but no additional features were announced with this price rise.

In fact, Sony already began to charge similar price hikes in countries all over South America, Australia, New Zealand, and Europe, including Britain.
On the brighter side of things, April 2025's free PS Plus games are here. Subscribers can now download the following this month:
Although price escalation is sure to disappoint, there is still value to most gamers in the content that is provided—particularly when major titles are included every month.
It is as yet unclear, however, whether markets in Canada and other countries will react to the new pricing system.
