Fans of Solo Leveling are buzzing with questions about the potential for a third season, especially after the huge success of Season 1 and the recent conclusion of Season 2. At a recent Q&A event hosted by TheWrap's Raquel Harris, several key players behind the anime shared intriguing insights — including hints about delays and what might truly influence whether Solo Leveling Season 3 happens.
During the panel, Aniplex producer Sota Furuhashi revealed that between Seasons 1 and 2, the animation team created over 220,000 frames of animation — a detail that visibly shocked the audience.
“I’d love to give the animators some breathing room,” Furuhashi added. “So if it were up to me, I’d say let’s wait until the next Olympics to see what happens with Season 3.”
While his response was partly humorous, it reflects the immense workload behind the series. Furuhashi also hinted that the decision for a Season 3 might be in the hands of A-1 Pictures' producer Atsushi Kaneko.
Kaneko responded with emotion and humility:
“This isn’t necessarily a complex of mine, but working on Solo Leveling really opened my eyes to how global anime has become. Every country has different energy and fandoms, and I’m reminded of the power of entertainment every time I meet fans abroad.”
Kaneko even compared the situation to a legendary anime moment, referencing Dragon Ball’s Spirit Bomb:
“You know how it works — Goku gathers energy from everyone. It’s the same here. It’s not just up to us. The future of Solo Leveling lies in the hands of the fans. Your support is the Spirit Bomb.”
In a recent Reddit AMA, it was revealed that producing a single episode of Solo Leveling can take up to 10–12 months, depending on its complexity. With that kind of timeline, it’s no wonder the producers are hesitant to promise a new season immediately.
While Solo Leveling Season 3 hasn’t been officially confirmed, the producers' comments make it clear: international fans are more influential than ever. If the global demand continues to rise — and fans keep showing up with energy like a Spirit Bomb — a third season may not be far off.
Until then, we wait… and power up.
