DOOM: The Dark Ages, the latest entry in the legendary shooter franchise, is set to launch on May 15, 2025 across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC via Steam. Developed by id Software and published by Bethesda Softworks, this dark and cinematic prequel to DOOM (2016) and DOOM Eternal throws players into a brutal medieval war against Hell.
In this third installment of the modern DOOM saga, players take on the role of the DOOM Slayer, battling nightmarish demons across a grim medieval world. The game introduces a more narrative-driven experience while keeping the franchise’s iconic fast-paced combat intact.
Game Director Hugo Martin introduced the Cosmic Realm, a newly unveiled dimension born from a fusion between Hell and ancient cosmic entities. This surreal and hostile world will challenge players in new ways, blending psychological horror with brutal combat.
Among the new threats is the Cosmic Baron a towering demon with bladed arms and psionic powers. He’ll push you to your limits with aggressive melee attacks and mental assaults.
Also revealed is a telepathic variant of the Cacodemon, capable of immobilizing players who get too close. These enemies require new strategies and faster reflexes to defeat.
The trailer also hints at a new, mysterious weapon likely powered by cosmic energy. While the full details are still under wraps, early glimpses suggest it could redefine the way players face demonic threats in the Cosmic Realm.
DOOM: The Dark Ages will launch globally on May 15, 2025, and will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC via Steam. Pre-orders are now open.
