The remaster of Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion that was speculated about so long is official — and we might not even have to wait as long as we thought. A fresh leak posted the initial screenshots and preliminary details of the remastered version, and it seems the fans of the original RPG in 2006 are in for a flashback to the province of Cyrodiil.
The screenshots come directly from remaster studio Virtuos, whose website briefly held shots of the impending remaster that they subsequently removed or took down.
They consist of in-game shots and side-by-side comparison shots, which show noticeably enhanced graphics compared to the original. They seem to suggest, though, that the remaster is not a simple upscale — the visuals seem to have:

The files were quickly uncovered by fans on Reddit, generating hype, and insider rumors, including those from Eurogamer, indicate that the title will shadow release as early as next week.

There have been rumors of Oblivion remastering for months, and many have speculated that Bethesda was working on remastering one of its fan-favorite titles in the lead-up to The Elder Scrolls 6.
Now that Virtuos, a studio with a background in high-profile remasters and ports, is involved, the expectation is sure to be high.
Though the release isn't officially confirmed by Bethesda, this is the strongest confirmation to date that not only is the remaster a reality, but it's just about ready to play.
Reliving Oblivion in its prime condition is certainly something new and returning fans alike should look forward to.
