The much-anticipated Resident Evil 9 is proving to be a game-changer in Capcom's legendary survival horror franchise. With Leon S. Kennedy and Jill Valentine being the game's primary playable protagonists, the game is going in a new direction without leaving behind its horror roots. Meanwhile, longtime franchise staple Chris Redfield and Barry Burton will also be returning to perform supporting protagonist roles, adding to the suspense.
Resident Evil 9 is set four years after the events of Resident Evil Village. The narrative of the game is set on a Singapore-themed secret island where Leon and Jill have been sent to investigate a dark corporation working on biological weapon research. The corporation is attempting to clone the infamous biological weapon Eveline using the potent Megamycete, with catastrophic consequences.
Development on Resident Evil 9 is reported to have started in 2018, and release time had been set up for release in January 2025. More recent signs suggest it might be pushed back to late 2025 or 2026 to ensure a completed and compelling experience. Capcom is not afraid to deliver a polished horror experience that will please the fanbase.
Two Playable Controllable Protagonists: Leon and Jill both will have distinct gameplay mechanics, offering a rich and immersive gameplay experience.
Increased Horror Content: With Megamycete's influence, you should anticipate terrifying monsters and psychological horror just like in Resident Evil Village.
Survival at Its Very Core: Classic survival horror gameplay is brought back using minimalistic tools, intense combat, and strategic adventure. Next-Generation Graphics: Powered by the RE Engine, Resident Evil 9 will provide graphical fidelity on a completely different scale with realistic environments and realistic character models.
Set to be a franchise-defining game with its gripping storyline, fan-loved protagonists, and gloomy gothic setting, Resident Evil 9 is going to be one game. Capcom's decision to include Leon and Jill as playable protagonists introduces a new dynamic, and veterans and newcomers alike should be treated. Stay tuned for updates as we get closer to the release.
